Although they are proven to curb your appetite, it is not yet clear that exogenous ketones help you lose weight because:

  • Ketone supplements may interfere with fat burning, at least in theory. If your blood ketone levels are too high because you’re taking supplements, natural ketone production is halted.
  • One serving of ketones has about 50 calories, and you take several per day. If you’re not careful about restricting your caloric intake, you might ingest more calories than your body needs.

  • You follow a carb-restricted diet
  • You’re taking the right dosage
  • You don’t abuse these supplements after your body is in ketosis naturally
  • You take at least one serving on an empty stomach

How to Choose a Good Exogenous Ketone Supplement

Here are some factors to take into account:

  • Fast action. Does it trigger ketosis quickly?
  • Price. Can you afford the supplement?
  • Side effects. Do people complain about side effects?
  • Where to buy and shipping. Can you find these supplements in your local Walmart? What about on Amazon? Are there discounts and coupons you can benefit from?
  • Taste and flavors. Are there enough flavors? Can you endure bad taste if the product is effective?
  • Packaging. Do you like powders that you can turn into smoothies, or do you prefer to swallow capsules quickly? Is it OK to pour powder from a box, or do you prefer separate pouches?
